Rarest of the Rare

Not very often
More so rare
You find a soul
That beckons you to a world
Never seen, touched or heard
Offering possibilities, dreams
With thousand wings at once.

Not very often
Rarely in dreams
You find a presence
As balmy as shade
As nurturing as a well wisher
Kindling a fire of growth
Only to lit a million lamps.

Not very often
Rarely! Oh ! so rarely
You find a being
Whose presence absorbs you
Like enlightenment reaching your heart
And when such rarity comes to life
You bid the past and welcome the new start

Come dine with me

She let out screams of laughter
Shining through her smiles
Danced her way to glory
Till her breath could calm a while

The lady there in grey
Wore a dress of melancholic tinge
Her eyes bore the black of night
Her glass empty, for another fill

The mistress in blood red
Seething with anger to brim
Had fists full of rage as her accessory
Hurling abuses she wanted to kill

The lady next to the door
Stand watching with her heart burning
High heels of envious brand
She loathed them whom she saw achieving

At the corner was Self- contempt
Willing not to meet its own eyes
Looking pretty, doubting as always
Knowing not what to do with life

The hostess walked in welcoming
The different shades of Me
The feast reflecting myriad shades
Those which belonged to me

Simple is as simple gets....

My blogger friend Leo is back with daily prompts and I'm more than delighted to tag along there, as I terribly missed the Haiku Heights initiative by him. So here are my two poems on the prompt 'simple' :) Let's get the juices flowing.....at A prompt each day

To say that falling love
Is as simple as it can be
Is fooling around
With that caged heart of yours

To say that words written
Are like a feather gliding through silk
Is partial truth
For words often lose their speech

To say that friends last forever
Like the big massive trees
Is a false hope
For trees too wither and die

To say that happiness should be strived
Like the fireflies dancing at night
Is like living in a bubble
For emotions are fluxes

Simple is not as simple gets
Simple loves to become complex
Simple for them, is not simple for you
Simple, a joke, around many and a few
Simple, the smile, radiant in the light
Simple, her wrinkles, which through her skin, slide
Simple, his eyes, small and deep
Simple, his actions, thoughtful and sweet
Simple, the mom’s cooking, for her
Simple, not, but best her food for us
Simple, the care of father for the kids
Simple and loved the blanket in the cold mist

Simple is not simple as simple gets
Simple knows how to be unique
Simple a daily dose
A breeze comforting and at ease

Refuge

To those who find a comfort in the words at this space and to those who have never been here too,

Hi.

Life away from home has indeed been a gift in these one and a half years. It's not been less than a rollercoaster or a tornado. There have been subtle highs and deep lows, the kinds where you don't see any light and your 'troublesome' thoughts take a toll on you to the extent that begin to question the 'meaning in life'. Nonetheless the light seeped through the tunnel and caught the girl who was willing to fight!

Hoping and wishing you all very well Vanilla lovers. How have you been?:)

I'm back with a haiku at haiku horizons....Ah! poetry I missed you...and words I was yearning to hug you...come here you two!:)

Refuge
In love I found you
In you I found refuge; the
Light to my tunnel

Love Tunnel ,Ukraine. A beauty, ain't it?:)

Looking Forward to the future

Then I thought, afraid of the ‘un’ that the certainty was
The fears lurked like shadows of the past and future merged
The hope shrank, melted like an ice cream amidst the cold winds
The bon fire shook by the blizzards of terror
The external silence
Disguised the internal chaos
Not a moment of peace
Not a moment of calm
The ravage spoke for itself
And then the notes of tabla were heard
Dissolved amidst violin, sitar and a shehnai
The notes hummed a hope
With lyrics that entered the soul
Like magic I rose
Beckoning the future
To open the wings
Which gained strength in this endurance
The heart, the mind joined hands and head
Embracing that which was there……peace
The lamp became warmer………..hope
The path still has the ‘un’ in the clear
Yet the spring doesn’t looks far away

What kept these words alive in this poem…the song SwadesJ

Happy New Year 2015 pals!

Love~ Aakriti

In your words I find so(u)lace

Hello you there,
How has the writing been doing? Any thoughts on penning down what you already have in your mind? I thought a little coaxing will help you write, sigh, what was I thinking? You continue to be a lazy snail and I race along the waves, attempting to occasionally sit by the shore and listen to the music of the waves. I’ll take back the word ‘lazy’ because I know the thoughts are going in your pensieve. I wait for the day they get woven into your yarn of words.

So lost in the world of words
My green tea sat there waiting
And a sip of bitter tea
Brought the memories
Of how someone saved me from choking

There are times when I’m quiet and silent and I can feel you, your silent presence is enough for my soul to find its link to its soul-ace. As I write, I wonder, why do we need words to define all our experiences? Will the experience not cease to exist and be the moment we start to define it? It shall morph into a memory. Won’t it? Then what shall be of the experience? It’s like killing it with words just when it takes birth. A rather tragic analogy, never thought I will be thinking of words in such terms! Tell me, if I do not speak, how thou shall understand the feelings deeply felt, the rise and the fall of the thought-provoking waves amidst the gleaming light bestowed upon by the might moon?

The names imprinted in the sand
By my feet, not my hand
Waiting to slip by, with the waves
When it’s in the heart, why need the land?

Your old posts are a treasure of gold for me. Every time they read again, a new feeling rises. At times it’s helps me reminisce the feeling I felt when I first read it. Your words aren’t banal, they are melodies written on piece of instrument which plays ‘the moment’s music’, uplifting spirits and words, themselves, to skies that don’t exist. That’s how I feel when I read Pablo Neruda, Kahlil Gibran and Rumi.
You would be surprised to know that even as I keep coaxing you to write, my own habit finds a rare place in this schedule of mine. Yet, here I’m, writing unlike you, literally in every word!

Thank them who taught us
To read and to write
Thank stars who showed us
The one path, amidst many blinds
For if it were not for words
What else would it be?
The locked door at this end
Finally did find its key!

*these lines have been written by my fellow blogger friend Kunal, the link of his post has been shared there and here. The post has been inspired by his beautifully written words:)

YOU

You, in eternity
Would in no way be matched.

You, in your grace and solitude
Define beatitude

You, in your silence and your calm
Gift bliss so warm
You, in your being
Emit an elegant sheen

You, in your presence
Help me forget any absence
In this world!

And maybe growing up is also listening more and speaking less....

Hello Dear Vanilla people....

Talking of Words, I came upon this wonderful website grammarly.com!  Use Grammarly's free grammar check online  because good grammar like good gestures can take you places!:) This website is a great tool to proofread your documents far more efficiently than the Word Processor.... Use

Words shall be yours and yours alone
But a wand of correct grammar
Shall forever go along......:)

It's been a while I have been wondering about my ability to make a yarn of words, turns out, a few threads of different colorrs do come by and then they are left at simply being threads.

As days turn to weeks and weeks to months.
As seconds turn into hours, with everything said and done.
As those you knew become acquaintances
As strangers become more than dear ones
As winter turns into spring
With that squirrel walk in your step
As time goes by with seasons of hits and misses
Words stay at being thoughts
Waiting to walk the "insight way"

Paragraphs stay away
Stories become a haze
Perhaps, if this is what growing up is
Answers sure shall come some day!

Happy New Month!!

HAPPY SPRING:)

Seeker

The chitter- chatter of the bygone days
Gone like the wind
The goals have changed and matured
The seeds of the new plants await their blossom
That bud longs for it’s completion
For the storms of the past ruptured some wounds……
The bud, in the ‘moment’, on the lotus stem,
Amidst the sounds of water
The sparkle of the full moon, in calendar,
Waits ……for, when the seeker wishes to seek…..
All that is needed is to accept and wait……

What it takes to keep writing even as no one ever comes by

A choke in my throat
Perhaps a little tear stuck by
For the words would often be read
Sometimes by friends, more so by passers by
Time went by hopping to blogs
Words here and there, but never a lie
Some friendships were formed
Few for a while
Others faded, like a cloud passing by
And there were phases
Of posts after posts
And then a silence, a blankness for a while
And there was this one avid reader
The one I love
My posts would be viewed
Sweetly, from those miles
And I would often share this feeling
A vacuum of sorts
And he would simply say
“You write from heart, as others for the piles”
Yet this heart would wonder
Feel that ache and pinch
Words, my first love knew
Would offer sweet smiles and winks
And as this yarn keeps spinning
The yard stays vacant all day
And a few beautiful souls drop by
And appreciate the existence of this place
The dreams then flutter its wings
For well, some true ones say ‘worry why?’
Some hearts still get touched and feel
And relate to the words written by………….

The Love that was left of you

The following words were a reply to a beautiful quote shared by my sweet friend and blogger Saumya on FB. The quote is :

“Love is a temporary madness, it erupts like volcanoes and then subsides. And when it subsides, you have to make a decision. You have to work out whether your roots have so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part. Because this is what love is. Love is not breathlessness, it is not excitement, it is not the promulgation of promises of eternal passion, it is not the desire to mate every second minute of the day, it is not lying awake at night imagining that he is kissing every cranny of your body. No, don't blush, I am telling you some truths. That is just being "in love", which any fool can do. Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away, and this is both an art and a fortunate accident.” ― Louis de Bernières, Captain Corelli's Mandoli

Remember that day when I yearned for you,
Yearned, any clue what it means?
I cried for the distance,
Wept for the confusion,
Screamed noiselessly for the dilemma,
Tore invisible sheets in anguish,
Slept with tears as my companion,
Felt the spring turn winter,
The snow didn’t melt,
The colors burnt into ashes,
Anguish, Anger,
The emptiness of air……..
Remember?
May be you do,
May be not,
That aching yearning
That missed completeness
That dead air
Is all that I recall………..

Shabd-e-Kalam

Yeh joh shabd yahan hum bunte hain
Wahan door kahin kisi kone mein
Inhe lapet kar koi hasta toh koi rota hai
Gustakhi nai kijiyega huzoor, yeh shabd nahi jaan hain
Ink ek ek daane mein hai base kain lamhe
Kuch sehme, kuch darre
Kuch ankahe, kuch kareeb aur kuch gambhir

Yeh joh andikhe dhage hain
Woh dhage nahi kisse hain
Apke, mere, unke,
Zahir hue, chupe kisi kone mein
Zahir hue, tode kaeen rishte

Aj jab beete dinon ki yaad mein
Hum sang baithe hain, inke, apke aur apne sath
Kaeen kisse yaad karte hain
Jab shabdon ki pehchaan na thi
Kuch tohfe samay ke sath diye jate hain
Umar ka kya kahein
Apne mein hi ek paheli hai……

Chivalry

Chivalry

Left a comfort zone
Jumped in fire, knowing not the heat
It burns but is warm

Linking up at haiku heights...word: chivalry

I'm at peace….with love

Dear Darling
Hi, my love. I hope you are doing well in the company of the book you suggested me to read. The irony being you had watched the movie, bought the book, yet not read it. It was one lovely book I had come across. It turns out, that the book is now in my ‘fav list’. Some time back I suggested it to someone. He asked “What is different in this book?” I answered “It’s the style of writing”. He wasn't too convinced by my answer. I knew what I had in mind, but due to lack of time I couldn't complete my answer. Today if someone asks me, what that book is about this is what I shall say:

And since decades
The message spread world wide
Love that is true, sweet and pure
Knows no age, color or background
The hearts intertwine
Blossomed flowers of spring
Nurture each other
Till their life bids end
And many a times
Words too falter
For feelings felt
Beyond words that express
And distance sure does
Makes the heart fonder
As we yearn for love
That melts like chocolate
And he knows that she
Likes dark velvety ones
As he gorges on them
One after one
She smiles at the sweet tooth
And the purity
Of his honey filled heart
He never had honey
And well, that quite bizarre
Amidst the grey days
When silence was at loss
No word spoken
Silent, miles apart
As tears would stream down
My face, my love
Your presence my darling
My haven, my cover
And even as I yearn
For a fire beside me
Your love, our walk and talks
Embraces me lovingly
With a smile that lasts
No matter how the day goes
A hope for a new tomorrow
A life to love, with love……to follow

With love
Yours, now and forever

Free- dome

They say free-dome comes
With restrictions; true as it
May be, yet I think

If I’m free in
My boundaries, why don’t my
Wings rejoice in me?

My eyes as they rise
The firmament looks at me
 “You’ll fly and shine”

Echoes the charged voice
Sun’s rays reach this heart, kindles
The dying warm flame

Broken

Something has happened to me today…just when my dissertation needs all my attention, I seem to be wandering all over the blogosphere either reading stuff, going through fab pictures or admiring the simple yet gorgeous styles to wrap a packet…Ah!! So here’s my another flavour of juice…yes creative juices on a high today!!!:P
I’m linking at Blu blub bling’s blog who plans to give prompts this entire April making it an Awesome April;) …and the prompt is this fab picture:

Chitter chatter the drops fell,
From the heavens above or my eyes?
The pools of earth opened up,
Me too big to hide,
The lightning struck, so did you,
The day we met and kissed,
And the thunderstorm created havoc,
You went, leaving me miffed
It rained and rained,
For hours and days,
No sun was seen in sight,
My eyes in mirror spoke no words,
The life inside had died.

A Tell Tale

She asked me,
“You’ve not written for long,
Something about yourself?”
I looked in her eyes,
Which betrayed my self,
A self long lost, still there.

She asked me,
“What have you been up to?
For something seems to have changed”
I looked at her face,
Saw the ruins,
Fresh and old, but the same.

She asked me,
“ Where was your chirpy voice?
And the zest to live your life?”
I looked at the tinkling chime above,
Which spoke for me,
A thousand words.

She stood there,
With a blank face,
And blank me,
The last time I saw her there,
The ripples dried, turned into sand.

As I walked with my naked burns,
Only to be seen by me,
A whisper hushed in my ear,
“Life’s simple, complex you make, Busy bee!”
