What if…Repeat Mode?

What ifRepeat Mode?

This heart sure has its reasons to live,
To live, to love, and then to survive,
Amidst elation, breakups, deep gorges and high tides,
And as the reel runs,
The music that flows,
Melodies of  trance,
Of manic and depressive mode,
The flute plays all through,
Sometimes too invisible to hear,
And just when the vibes comes closer,
The songs play on a repeat mode!
The songs of the past forlorn,
Of that never meant to happen,
But that which eventually does,
The song too close to the heart,
It plays and aches and plays again,
And just when it plays on a different scale,
The pianist, insecure, changes her sail,
Onto a different route,
Not too distant from where it meant,
A li’l near to feel secure,
But the past song plays aloud hidden…..

The ‘oh! So Bright SUN- day!’

The ‘oh! So Bright SUN- day!’

I wonder if universities instead of keeping entrance exams, keep vivas or exams on Sundays. Mine, well it just did. Apparently and gladly so, it turned out to be a nice one…
So as I was about to exit from the metro station taking up the ‘going- to- heaven’ escalator ( coz its super long and its steepness makes me feel as if I’ll step into clouds:P) a lady clad in a sari asked me that she couldn’t take the escalator, in that very moment I climbed the stairs and was already moving away from her, so I walked against the direction of the escalator, went to her and helped her, along with another man to get on the steps. On the- stairs- to- heaven, she told me in her village accent “Beti, yeh toh tumne madad kardi nahi toh in sidiyon par toh chakkar se ate hain” .

Well, with a smile on my face I took another flight of stairs, then walked towards my college. As I entered my deserted campus, I stepped into the field. Walked under the shade of a huge tree and then stepped into the blessing rays of the sun. I looked at the sun! Ah! I could feel its love for me shining bright and warming me! As I looked for a nice place to comfort myself in the sunshine, I greeted a lady guard sitting in the sun, basking in its morning warmth.
I have this habit of wishing guards or even maids on duty, because I feel they just sit there whole day, no one to talk to (all by themselves), maybe no one to even thank them for what they do . If my greeting can bring them a sense of acknowledgement and a smile, well, then my job is doneJ

So yeah, as I was trying to find a place to sit, this ladyguard asks me “Aaj viva hai?” I respond to her by saying yes, and so I nicely sit myself on the wall, next to her and we begin our chat. I tell her that I’m from another university ( our campus has two universities' collg in one!). She tells me that she knows that.

I started enjoying the conversation. I wanted to hear her in fact. She told me that she earned a meagre salary of 6000 bucks, her company didn’t even give her any leave, and for every off she would take, they would deduct 200 rupees from her salary. I felt sad at hearing that. I mean leave Sundays, but she wasn’t spared for one single day! I asked her “Agar kisi ki tabiyat kharab ho toh?” She then tells me “Unhe isse kya matlab! Humare rishtdaar unke thodi na hain!”. She was a very cute looking lady. She told me that she regretted over the fact that she hadn’t studied much, had she done that, she would have had a far better job in hand today and then she would have been enjoying her Sunday nicely at home. And then she told me “Bus aise mausam mein toh chai mil jaye” (Delhi is getting chillier day by day, and mornings are windy and sunny). I then responded by saying and stressing on “Adrak  wali chai!” and yes she had a smile on her face as she agreed with me.

I asked her about her children, she asked me about my place. We had a short sweet conversation. We might have talked for some 20 minutes or so. I looked at my watch, and told her “Aunty, mere viva ka time ho gaya hai, mujhe jana padega! Aapse baat karke acha laga”. I did ask her name, which I don’t recall at the moment. But yes, her smiling face is right there in front of my eyes as I write this.

There was this sense of contentment which embraced me after my talk with her. The Best bit was that, like a blessing, I carried it with me all day long!
My viva was good!:) and m glad for that too
Yes my lovely sun always brings a smile on my face, more so, coz my love for it doubles up in winters!:)

Yeh dhoop ki kirne,
Yeh lehrati zulfein,
Yeh thandi hawa,
Yeh adrak ki chai,
Bus, kabhi kabhi,
Ek muskurahat ke liye,
Zyada door nahi jana padta
Kyunki……wahin apke aas paas,
Idhar ya udhar…who apko dhundti hai…!!!:)

Greatful for...Some smiles amidst weariness

I realize a week has gone by…so it’s time to be greatful again!Hmm…it’s hard to find greatful moments this week coz I have taken myself to my extreme limits viz a viz my work.
Maxabella brings a dull smile on my face as she says:

“Exhaustion - so there's way too much on at this time of year and we're all about to break. But, you know what, aren't we bloody lucky?!”

This week I’d like to greatful :

To my silent readers…..
Readers who come by at Yarn of~ words, read what’s on my mind, may feel sad, may smile or may for that matter think ‘what the hell does she think of herself’ for whatever reason…….thank you for taking precious time from your lives, to at least stop by. It’s alright if your words (or presence isn't noticed, but yes it's felt!) are not heard….Thank you still!

To a new sweet friend, who has seen my madness through this one week, well did you have to befriend me this time of the year?:P……the reply I get is ….”Mere paas akashwani thodi na ayi thi, kit ere assessments chal rahe hain”….You make me smile….and even though I do not know how long our friendship might last….but yes this moment shall be cherished!

To my family again for tolerating their cranky, irritable, annoying daughter, over- working has made me into one nasty girl. But their patience, I respect and admire as well…..

To ‘aaj jane ki zid na karo’ from Rohini Ravada and Ashai Mugam . The latter song, I dunno which language it is from, some South Indian one, but she is too melodious to the ears and to my heart as well..Thank you for singing and for gifting us tired souls such sweet honeydew voices to listen to…….

One more final assessment to go…..Yeah! I’ll crack it…it’s a viva…wokay!!
I’m looking forward to baking a chocolate walnut cake soon!
Happy December!
Stay Blessed

Greatful for.....

I’m GREATFUL FOR….

Copyright: Mudasir:)
Sigh…..
·        This week I’m greatful for Blogging.. for finding such amazing people out there on the blogosphere to interact, to chat and to have fun with. The kind of fun I have become addicted to over time, and I only wish to meet such wonderful bloggyfrnds of mine one day ...in REALJ
·
Greatful to fab photographers, one of them being Mudasir, whose pictures are splendid and spectacular.Ry, I love your pictures and all the many others who bring the frozen moments alive and speak not through their lips, not through their minds, but through their eyesJ Thank you for giving me reasons to smileJ
·
Greatful to The Dewarists, for making such a splendid composition of music in their song Kya Khayal Hai. An unusually unique song, indeed not heard any of this kind for long!  Kunal, I second you on thatJ
·
Thank you to Twish, for that beautiful convo we had that day, may we get to meet soon and may tumhari meri baatein hamesha yuhin chalti rahein…….:*( may our talks continue forever- for those of you not familiar, it’s a beautiful Bollywood song)
·
Lastly, forever greatful to you MaxyJ
And I love these words of yours…
But every week is an opportunity for someone to begin at one. Being grateful as a regular thing slows you down and makes you reflect on what's good in the past and the present, rather than always thinking about what's around the next corner. There is something in that. The past and present are full of memories and feelings, the future is full of maybes and perhaps.

Wishing you all sunshine smiles and sparkling eyes
Stay Blessed
Happy December!:)

My first ever HAIKU

Yellows Vanilla People:):) hope you are doing fabulously awesome. Haikus have always been intriguing to me. it seemed like a kind of Jigsaw puzzle, or rather a maths problem to me so far, until Leo ( Vinay) helped me today with writing a haiku..

HAIKU: Is a Japanese lyric verse form having three unrhymed lines of five, seven, and five syllables, traditionally invoking an aspect of nature or the seasons.. If its emotions and life involved, its a senryu.

Alright...before you go ahead to read what I wrote..here are the ways of understanding a syllable- lets take my name for example.. Aakriti...you break it into sounds.. so it becomes three syllables Aa- kri- ti.
Other examples:)
hon-ey ( 2 syllables), beau-ty ( again...2 syllables), ap-ple (2) mis-un-der-stand-ing (5 syllables)

As a first timer Leo tells me that it's tough to figure out syllables. So well I wrote my very first Haiku with his help, on the topic of Obsession which Leo has posted on this blog of his..Here is my Haiku:~
I think of murder
That I had done last moonlight
The thought comes again

To help understand the syllables...it goes like:

I think of mur-der ( 5 syllables)
That I had done last moon-light ( 7 syllables)
The thought comes again ( 5 syllables)

I also got to know that if any kind of break needs to be given in between lines, it should come in the second line and the first line and the first part of a second line needs to be connected, and subsequently, the second part of the second line and the third line needs to be connected.. if it seems gibberish to u~ Chk out Leo's haiku on Kindness:)

PS: This above info was for those who are CLUELESS how to read Haiku...other awesome Vanilla people just ignore:)

My blissfully Enchanting Life….

There are more than a million songs in this world sung in different languages, woven in by words and then strewn into a necklace only if the composer has an imagination of how that necklace would beautify the neck of a magnificent lady….and well..every now and then, not very often, I find myself connecting to a song that transports me to an enchanting world of mine….
That which is perfect, not ‘so’ perfect, but perfect enough for me to have that lovely smile on my face, that glittery eyes, which are seen in a mirror of that man’s eyes.

A beautiful lake, calm, still, the waters of which behold the presence and keep the love and the solitude of the mountainous peaks intact.

That dew drop of early morn which knows how it feels to be resting on the pretty green leaf, only for moments so few, soon enough to fade, and fall for another leaf, on a new day……on a new morn….

That pearl which comes to have a ‘life’ after a long wait of that drop of sand which the oyster was in search of….

That ballet of love, which springs itself reassuringly, joyously in the naughty eyes of the girl…

And her beloved simply holds her hand, no words spoken, nor exchanged, and they simply walk with their souls intertwined for eternity….

That feeling where there is One body for two,

One life for two,

And two souls dwelling in one heart, one moment…for ever….

The song is…Tum Ho from Rockstar…<3

PS: I have been listening to this on repeat mode, to keep the flow of my thoughts going for this post;) Yes…I’m in my enchanted world!!

ECHO

ECHO
Before you go ahead reading my lines....listen to the song attached, that's what inspired me to write this one.....

Life brings us down,
It pulls the end too hard,
And like a loose thread unwound,
It crushes, crumples the woven piece….altogether…..

The body wears with age,
And so does the mind loses its attention,
A blur, A haze, dizziness so bizarre……..

The greys, the blacks, the darkness…..

And then the echo calls us back,
To love, to live to shout,
To breathe with our full lungs……

The unknown people become sweet strangers,
Passing by our knowables,
Living through our words,
Knowing our dreamy world,
And on the edge, I know my reality,
That which is alike yet away from what I show,
And then my eyes glisten in the shine,
Looking beyond the ocean, too far and wide,
Not knowing how to swim,
Not knowing the undersea world,
I dive, fighting all the odds……..struggling to be ALIVE…….
The dolphins join the dance,
The turtles play with bubbles,
And my life is lived befriending …….. my ECHO.

My Gratitude to….Kahlil Gibran

My Gratitude to….Kahlil Gibran

Many of you have heard Kahlil Gibran's name and know him for his quotes. But there is a lot more beyond his quotes. Thanks to my college offering me with their “whatever” share of readings, I got tired and picked up The Collected Works of Kahlil Gibran from my cupboard.

I browsed through the index and reached for his book “The Madman” and began reading through them. One after another, I swiftly turned the pages. He touched me right where my soul rested. It was as if he knew the pain that was there inside, trying to fade away, and he through his poetry and proses, led me silently on my very own way..

He writes in “My Friend”:

“ Thou canst not understand my seafaring thoughts, nor would I have thee understand. I would be at sea alone….

When it is day with thee, my friend, it is night with me; yet even then I speak of the noontide that dances upon the hills and of the purple shadow that steals its way across the valley; for thou canst not hear the songs of my darkness nor see my wings beating against the stars -- and I fain would not have thee hear or see. I would be with night alone.”

Yes..his lines touched me, for I felt how my best friend would hide away her pain, sorrow from me, as I took her for granted, not knowing that she too had her own share of emotions and experiences she underwent.

I have been reading him past 3 days and he has come to be this invisible and standing strong like rock companion for me. And it feels great to have fallen in love with him.
I have a lot to say, and my appreciation for him is ineffable. All I’ll do is leave you with a story of his from his most famous book “The Prophet”:

Then a woman said, "Speak  to us of Joy and Sorrow."

And he answered:

Your joy is your sorrow unmasked.

And the selfsame well from which your laughter rises was oftentimes filled with your tears.

And how else can it be?

The deeper that sorrow carves into your being, the more joy you can contain.

Is not the cup that hold your wine the very cup that was burned in the potter's oven?

And is not the lute that soothes your spirit, the very wood that was hollowed with knives?

When you are joyous, look deep into your heart and you shall find it is only that which has given you sorrow that is giving you joy.

When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight.

Some of you say, "Joy is greater than sorrow," and others say, "Nay, sorrow is the greater."

But I say unto you, they are inseparable.

Together they come, and when one sits alone with you at your board, remember that the other is asleep upon your bed.

Verily you are suspended like scales between your sorrow and your joy.

Only when you are empty are you at standstill and balanced.

When the treasure-keeper lifts you to weigh his gold and his silver, needs must your joy or your sorrow rise or fall".

PS: After having read through philosophers like Plato, Descartes, Kant, Socrates....Gibran is one philosopher, painter, poet who touches me immensely, for the way he writes honestly, yet simply, revealing the 'truths of life' that which we all know, but perhaps never reflected through! Thank you Gibran for penning down your beautiful thoughts!:)

My Deep Blue Sea

Has it ever happened to you that you got so tired of yourself?
That all you wanted to do was not hide, but DIE.
Die for your ‘self’ as you got worn out by the constant cacophony,
That the mind carried within itself.

Moments when all you wanted to do was hide in that deep dark sea,
Where there are no shades of blue or green, just non colourable darkness,
And then just when you were about to enter the cocoon,
The commotion outside forced you to adopt and adapt to the social demands.

And in these moments, you feel like dying in that sorrow,
Fading like a mist, not to be seen,
Like you existed only for few seconds,
And then the absence followed your ‘lived’ presence.

Yes I felt like dying that way….
Few moments back,
But the sea got turbulent,
And it kicked me up to the shore,
And here again…..I’m back to feeing the commotion… quiet yet noisy …everlasting.

Criticize Me!

Every time my brother says something to me about my writing, it pinches me. Yes. Real hard. Sure, you guys are very kind who always keep appreciating me, and he is the only one after a friend of mine whom I no longer have, who would criticise my style of writing ‘on my face’.
And then it would irk me, for I would always tell him time and again that ‘All you do is simply dislike my stuff’.

He says he has tried reading my work, but never really liked it, and never ‘really appreciated’ as well. On a positive note, his critique is an appreciation for me. My dad tells me that only a best friend will point you your mistakes, not because they love to, but because they want you to grow.
My brother Aman, writes like a writer. He is far ahead from me when it comes to reading and writing. And though it’s been years since I have been writing, still his writing would any day beat mine.
Is writing about competing? No
Am I jealous of him? No, because I love reading what he writes.

Every time he says “I have written something, would you like to read?” And I excitingly read it thinking at least he is sharing something with me, even if it’s his sci- fi thoughts;)

I have shared with all of you earlier as well, how glad I feel everytime he talks to me, but just that he doesn't talks much.:/

My best friend and her brother are close, and she tells me that he shares quite a lot of stuff with her, and so does her first cousin brother. Maybe growing up with boys, makes you feel like a boy ‘yourself’ coz over the years, either you are treated like one, or you ‘become’ like one, in some or the other ways.
But well, in my case, it’s just a pair of brother and sister.

I still do not know about my style of writing. And unlike him, I do not share my stuff with him, unless he happens to know ‘like always’ what I’m writing about or posting on my blog, even though when he is not following me. I do not share, because he finds my writing too emotional.
And the way he pin points, makes me only very furious which makes me annoyed.

I would want you all to visit his blog. And get a taste of his writing. I’m waiting for the day when he writes a book. Few days back, he shared with an awe inspiring idea of a story he wishes to write. And that has great potential to get published, precisely because I have never come across something like that.
Kudos to my brother! Yes I’m proud of him… But I wonder if I’m proud of myself…today?:/

I’m a jewel….hard to get

I’m a jewel….hard to get

Yes. I love myself, A lot! And I’m glad for that! You know why? Because I know that I’m worth a million jewels on this earth. I have so much potential in myself. The way I raise myself after every storm throws me far away, tearing my already crushed pieces into bits that are hard to gather, is something that keeps me going!....

I’ll share with you my current FB status..and it goes like:

“And just when we feel that life was already so messed up, there comes a storm, a tornado that makes you realize that there are worse things in life we yet have to overcome...and then I say "Yeah...sure keep them coming...I'll see who'll win!!

I have so much in myself to give someone..love, care, understanding, sharing and yes, my intellect as wellbut just that I haven’t found that someone..and I now know, that I’m no more on that finding spree..Let it be..The best things in life find us, when we least expect them. So, I’m done with the finding bit! Even if it means my parents finding that guy for meIt’ll save me so much from ‘syapa’ in relationships!

Yes, I’m a jewel and people who know me might as well agree tooSure I’m a human as well..and that comprises my bads, my mistakes toobut at the end of the day I’m MYSELF!
And life continues to teach me lessons..

Song for the day: Kaisi hai yeh rut ki jisme phool banke dil khile ( Dil Chahta hai)..:)

A New Leaf..

A New Leaf…

Jab jab chaha tune raj ke rulaya
Jab jab chaha tune khul ke hasaya
Jab jab chaha tune khud mein milaya
Ik tuhi tu hi tu hi tu hi tu hi tu hi

These are the beautiful lyrics of the song Ik tu hi tu from the upcoming movie “Mausam” of Shahid and Sonam Kapoor. I’m kinda looking forward to it.

I’m sure by this time all my Bloggy friends knew why I was writing poems on missing a friend, on relationships and the like
And just as I wrote these lines, the Wadali Brothers sing these lines for me…

“Teri ye judai ik
Wak sare chote
Teri ye judai ik
Sukh sare khote

And these are the moments when you feel the songs are meant for you…
Yeah..so coming back..I feel glad that as one friend went, two others came. Would you like to know the irony? The friend who has gone, his best friend is now my sweet friend. And today as she messaged me saying that it has been long since we talked, I just thought ‘What if she leaves like he did?” And my talk with her kind of assured me that she won’t.

We can’t stop people from entering our lives,
Nor can we stop them from going,
Sure we can create walls, or gates or windows,
But it is ‘they’ who choose the means……!!

The number reaches 50!!:)

“Act as if what you do makes a difference. It does.”
~William James

I’ve been eagerly waiting for the day when my follower’s number would touch ‘50’…and well finally the day is here. TODAY!!:)

Thank you Abhishek for being the fiftieth one, it means a lot to me.

To share with my Bloggy friends, as I have often mentioned it before, the number of followers in no way means having a kind of fan following.

For me it has a completely different meaning. It tells me that I have the ability not only to express, but also somewhere to touch some lives ( if only in subtle ways)and in that touch-and- g0 way, it tells me that my Bloggy Friends do appreciate what I think, feel and eventually express..

It has been a delight writing all these 9 years. My tryst with the world of blogging began last year, and I have been thoroughly enjoying it. Every bit of it!

And as the “thought of the day”  by William James, shared with you goes, I would like to believe that with this blog of mine I’m making a difference. If you ask me what kind or in which ways, I would leave that for you to answer…..All I know is ‘I BELIEVE IN MYSELF’ and for that I have you, my friends to thank as wellJ

Musical Life

Musical Life…..

When the chords strike in the heart,
With a lovely voice that lingers in ears.....
When the drops of rain melts your pain,
With tears of yesterday streaming away…..
When the laughter gleams in your eyes,
It tells you had a great time, even for a while….
When the beats of Tabla strike a note,
With the wounds that open up and slowly close…..
When the piercing sun shines from dull clouds,
Telling you there is a tomorrow, a smile to be found…..
When you see two friends tease each other,
With great fondness, you recall your own……
When the soft sitar sways your mind,
Reaching the heart, it plays the button ‘rewind’…..
When the dear one goes away,
Without bidding adieu, a freedom you just gave……
And with a smile, sad and sweet, to yourself you say,
“Dear friend, no grudges from me”,
“Our time was great!”

No Goodbyes in True Friendships.....

No goodbyes in True Friendships

Before you may start reading this one...it might just make more sense if you go through the post that preceded this one:P  which goes by the name Unspoken

I just happened to feel till yesterday that my friendship with a wonderful friend had come to an end. It felt as if it was ‘phasic’ as if the beautiful moments we shared had come to an end, until my friend finally called me today, after reading a long mail I had written to him.

Friends they say, stay, and I would like to believe that way,
And if they choose to move on, I shall still remember them for their beautiful ways…
And get back to them, and tell them,
My dear friend ‘ Every moment spent with you was a bliss’…

Yes I had tears in my eyes as I read his reply, for it ached to see how much pain he was carrying within, so much so not to let it out on paper, not to let it out in talks, but in that corner of his heart which still throbbed with the wound he thought might not appear.

In a relationship like friendship, surely it hurts to see your friend go into that cocoon, more so, when they go without saying anything, but as a friend perhaps all I can do is to wait for that day when the sun shines bright, and that cocoon opens up only to make me see a beautiful butterfly struggle its best to conquer the world with its colors and beauty. And yes to believe in yourself, to be that friend, one needs to have a belief in oneself as well..

And when times and situations strike us with a hammer or for that matter a gloomy day, we must revive our spirits to let our hearts know, that tomorrow it shall be a bright sunny day….

My friend may have lost trust or hope in himself, so much to overcome the feeling of self blame he carries within, but here’s telling my friend, that he is strong enough to conquer the storms, the world and the people, for situations have their own colors, and ‘ we have our own…’
