Come dine with me

She let out screams of laughter
Shining through her smiles
Danced her way to glory
Till her breath could calm a while

The lady there in grey
Wore a dress of melancholic tinge
Her eyes bore the black of night
Her glass empty, for another fill

The mistress in blood red
Seething with anger to brim
Had fists full of rage as her accessory
Hurling abuses she wanted to kill

The lady next to the door
Stand watching with her heart burning
High heels of envious brand
She loathed them whom she saw achieving

At the corner was Self- contempt
Willing not to meet its own eyes
Looking pretty, doubting as always
Knowing not what to do with life

The hostess walked in welcoming
The different shades of Me
The feast reflecting myriad shades
Those which belonged to me

Earth with-out the Sun

“How did you feel when you fell in love?”

“You want to know?”

“Ahan”

“My smiles were the widest ever. My mind didn't feel tired even as I managed to sleep only for two hours out of elation. To know that there is somebody, in this big world, wanting to offer you all the love they carry inside your heart is an extremely extra-ordinary feeling. That is how I felt that night, my dear. My heart fell at peace for having won the battle against my mind, which gave me its erroneous reasons to stay away. One of my dearest friends gave me a sign to take the plunge. I’m only glad I did. The days that followed that mid night of confession were nothing short of bliss.
Every date would strum a melodious string of the heart. The heart still keeps discovering the unstrung notes and skips a heart beat here and there. Perhaps that's what they call 'still in love'.
You know dear, when I think about us, all I feel is peace, glee and solitude. It’s like the grass wakes up every morning with the warmth and delight than the Sun offers to her. Looking up at him, she smiles. In that smile are all the conversations that are sacred, solemn and enchanting.

Sacred secrets stored
Serene streams sway

Luxurious lake’s lather
Lullabies lover’s laughs

Even as I wish to proclaim my love for the Sun, it’s the winters that testify my shivers to the world.
The days that he comes by, the chill disappears, and warmth seeps through the soul. His presence and absence are duly felt inside the chambers of my very existence. And let me leave it at this:

“ What would the Earth be with-out the Sun?”

Pure at Heart

Just as I was about to add Boost in my milk, something made me stop, it was like a voice (inside me) which told me to have the milk in its pure form- nice and hot, without sugar or any other additives. I had the pure and the plain milk, it tasted delicious, and thanks to that moment, I got a topic to write!

Sometimes the best deals one can get can be in a ‘raw’ form. Now whether they are fruits (like the crispness and the sweetness of a beautiful red apple or the softness of the tender banana or the juiciness of cute round tomatoes) or vegetables (the bitterness of a bitter gourd, the freshness of the cool cucumber) or human expressions and emotions, the raw ones are the most fresh and the purest ones of all. Nothing can beat the richness and the quality of the heart fresh (like we use ‘oven fresh’) emotions and feelings!

I talk here about all the feelings ranging on a continuum from the bad ones to the good ones. In that way, one gets to see the pure expression of falling in love on one end, and on the other we might get to see intense hatred and disgust of the person towards another. Nothing matters as long as the emotions are ‘pure’; not mixed with sediments of ‘fakeness’ or not discoloured by dust particles of ‘modifications’.

But, it is not easy tasting ‘pure’ and ‘raw’ every time, for some people not even once. The mere reason being that we all are so used to tasting the cooked, baked, fried, grilled form of feelings, emotions, that the raw ones taste bland. So, even if they are presented to us right from ‘heart fresh farm’, either they are not acknowledged, or if they are, they are sent to the kitchen of the mind to be cooked in order to make them edible!

Well, whatever be the case, we need to understand the value of the ‘raw’. For if there would be no raw, there would be no cooked too! What would you feed your heart and mind? Blankness? No thoughts to think about, no emotions to feel for?

In today’s world while everyone talks about ‘organic’, they might as well apply in here too. We want to become healthy, we want to be fit too, but what’s the use of it all, if you discard the old and ‘pure’ (feelings and emotions) in order to create space for the new?

Genuinely expressed feelings, emotions, desires and wants, which too in their purest form have become a cuisine which people used to feed on at one point of time. But amidst the hustle bustle of making new cuisines a taste of our hearts and minds, there still are some few chefs in this world who deliver, to you ,‘heart fresh’ food for your mind and heart , from one heart to another. And I have tasted that pure, fresh, aromatic, rich flavour of it- It lingers on, and unlike other foods, instead of making you crave for it; it makes you appreciate the goodness of that chef’s kitchen and heart!

Layers within layers

Things, situations, emotions, feelings, are pretty different, at times, from what they might seem.
A Smile on someone’s face, a tear on someone’s cheek, a politeness in someone’s tone; they all might seem genuine, but the causes might vary.
For the smile be just a facade, a tear might be that reflecting an overwhelming feeling, and the politeness in tone, might be sweet, yet bitter, conveying the sarcasm hidden within.

There lived a girl named “Aura”, who used to create beautiful and colorful aura around her wherever she used to go.
A Smile here and a cheer there. Making friends, impressing others with her ever so warm and genuine nature. One of her good friends would say, that, "She has a Thousand Watt Smile” and then she would smile again.

But behind her ever so affectionate, lovable, loyal, trustworthy, and warm exterior lay a girl who was sensitive, deep to the heart’s core; A girl who could never take any nonsense, whether it was for her or for her friends; A girl, who used to feel sad, gloomy, morose many a times, and that too without any plausible cause or reason.

One of her friends wanted her to share her sad feelings with her, so that she could help Aura just the way Aura always did , but what could she say, what could she share? For she didn’t know why she felt low? Her heart was going through a chaos of emotions, feelings, all mixed up. To her it felt like a barren desert with cold, chilly blizzards blowing away the only reason for “hope” she had, away from her.

Her friends didn’t used to like this dull, sad, cheerless Aura.

Aura thought to herself, “I understand that people and my friends find me cheerful, but what I fail to understand is, that considering the depth and the vastness of human emotions, why can’t I feel low? I do, don’t they understand? And even if they do…” She again got caught up in the world of her feelings.

Her thought process continued “ …Life always tries to strike an equilibrium, if not this way, then some other. Surely, if happiness would be here to stay, we would take that for granted too, and how would one learn from one’s lessons, if there was no despair, no moments of hopelessness and worthlessness in our life?”

She felt a bit at ease, as answers began to welcome her in the enigma of her questions.

“Likewise, my friends, some, in particular need to understand that sometimes, my heart “simply” feels low, perhaps it gets bored of being happy all the time, or may be the brain suddenly feels like releasing other neurotransmitters, which thereby affect me so drastically that I automatically start feeling low. Hmm…well whatever the case, or the reason behind it, there are times, when I simply do not know why do I feel low?”
As her heart looked above at the starry sky, and her feelings took a rest near the shore of her heart, she said:

“My dear lovely friends, the best ones I found
I might create an “aura” whenever I’m around,

One which encompasses all glee and cheer,
The sadness, mostly hidden, at times which re- appears,

The reasons I may not know,
The reasons I may not share,

I wish to be by myself,
But do appreciate your care,

For sometimes, the island of my heart,
Wishes to enjoy the waves,

The high and the low tides,
In the dark, deep caves,

And when the storm bids adieu,
I open my eyes, as I awake,

Birds singing songs of hope,
And sun showing me my way,

Then you might be welcomed,
Then you might celebrate,

For the aura you had waited this long,
Is bright and beautiful, for its own sake!!
