WHO BAKES A CAKE ON THEIR OWN BIRTHDAY??

The other day as I surfed through
blogs, I happened to see one blog in which the girl had made a list of certain things, one of the points read as “Who bakes a cake on their own birthday??” The way that girl said it felt as if she was saddened by the fact that none of her friends baked a cake for her or got it for her on her B -day!!

This made me thinking. I thought that till date no one had ever baked a cake for me on my birthday (my mom didn't know how to bake, and my friends who do know never baked a cake for me or for that matter got it for me). But even before this thought could sadden me, it vanished as it came!! You know why?? It is because
I do not feel that I’m baking the cake for myself ( though I will agree that I’m one of those who bakes a cake for her own birthday:P) what makes me happy and brings a smile on my face is the long “mmmmm’ s I get to hear as my friends dig into that delicious sinful cake, and they ask me “ You made it?” , as I answer yes they again respond “yummmmy, can I have one more piece of it?” and that simply makes my day!
For me it is like not only giving a gift to others but a gift to myself too. After all cooking is a pleasurable activity (not always, coz I’m a moody cook:P). But when you do put dollops of love instead of the cream, the sweetness of your heart instead of honey and the crispness of your energy instead of the walnuts, then surely the cake would taste as if it was made for someone specialJ So what if that special is your friend (s) on your birthday instead of you?
This is a Marble Walnut Cake baked by me :)
This is not to say that I’m not in the favor of eating a baked cake by my friends, I would love to have them, and yeah, if they do know how to bake a cake then they better get the hints that this is one thing I would like to have on my next birthday;)

Ending on a cakey note:
Spoons full of cocoa,
Powdered sugar and milk,
Beaten eggs and butter,
And the softness of the silk,
A hint of crispness,
With softness of raisins,
Its like in a chocolate tub,
Your taste buds were bathing!!:)

Haha. This post called me.
It's strange how a simple thought said out aloud can make the other person ponder so much over it. :)
